You know, even though I do not love it I still can’t think of too many foods that can compete with peanut butter. It’s the epitome of versatility in a jar. You can practically put it on or in anything. Any food or liquid you can think of; vegetables, breads, cookies, smoothies, ice cream.
Shoot, you can put it on another human (only in desperate situations). I never thought there was a food as versatile as peanut butter until I found out about chocolate and nuts in a jar.
Yeah, I am talking about n-u-t-e-l-l-a Nutella! Just the name of this product sounds like complete domination. Chocolate, hazelnuts, equals healthy? If this is true….than pigs can fly! Well many years on the market and a class action suit later got many checking the ingredients thinking damn was I fooled, again? Don’t get so down on yourself, there is a place for that jar of Nutella which I will tell you later.
Nutella vs peanut butter, what’s the different?
Well besides them both coming in jars, the next obvious difference is that one is peanuts while the other is chocolate and hazelnuts. This gives peanut butter a leading edge in the protein department by providing 8grams to only 2grams for Nutella.
But hey what about the fat?
Well Nutella has edged out peanut butter in that department 11 to 16 even though the majority of those 16 grams is unsaturated.
So who’s going to break the tie?
If you are looking at the carbohydrates, it’s going to be the peanut butter. Peanut butter is only carrying 6grams compared to a mighty large 23 grams by Nutella. In addition, adding salt on the wound, Nutella is definitely for the sugar lover since it has a whopping 20grams per serving! I don’t even think peanut butter (3 grams per serving) has 20 grams in the jar! As you can see the clear winner here is peanut butter.
Nothing against chocolate in a jar but any company that claims “breakfast never tasted this good” as you are literally lathering your bread with chocolate and sugar is not looking out for your best interest.
This company shows why it’s always best to check the nutritional ingredients before believing in the product. And for the place to keep that jar of Nutella… at the highest point of your home, that way if you really need something that unhealthy you will need to work for it.
