The season of the flu is upon us. If you are like the majority of the population, one of the major thoughts on your mind is where to get your flu shot. The flu shot is in high demand at the moment, and many places aren’t carrying enough to fulfill this demand. Many people may be left without a flu shot. Should this be a major concern? Absolutely not!!
When you receive the flu shot, you are putting a bacteria into your body. This is why many people will get mildly sick shortly after getting the shot. When the bacteria is introduced into your body, it breaks down your immune system and causes your body to fight back against the bacteria. Once your body learns how to fight back against the bacteria, it is far less likely that you will contract that exact illness again.
I see two major problems with the flu shot. First, the flu shot is known to be only 50% effective, so it isn’t even guaranteeing that you won’t get the flu afterwards. Second, you are putting a bacteria into your body!! This is practically like getting sick. That’s why so many people complain about feeling horrible after the shot! The more frequently your immune system breaks down due to sickness, the more difficult time it has fighting off infections in the future. I would much rather take the chance of contracting the flu than just putting the flu into my body right from the start!
When it comes down to it, most healthy individuals can fight off the flu. Why should it be necessary for everyone to get a flu shot and compromise their immune systems in the future? If you have a disease that makes you more prone to catching an illness, or you are at an age where it’s more difficult to ward off infections, then the flu shot might be a good choice for you. I just don’t think it’s a good choice for the average, healthy person.
